As we enter this season of transition as a church, it is vital that we all, as individuals and as a community, turn in earnest to God. We need to be reminded of his faithfulness, his promises and his character. It is time to pray…and to be reminded how to pray.

Following Easter, then, we are opening the Psalms to engage a six part preaching series for such a time as this: “Living Out Loud: Finding Your Voice in the Psalms.”

There is no better handbook for such a vivid life of prayer than that which is expressed “out loud” within the prayers and the praises of the Psalms. Within the Psalms we can locate our feelings and our experiences.

Ancient guides fortify us; they point us to the sufficiency and trustworthiness of God.
We learn about God.

Ancient guides instruct us about how to live well in the real range of human emotions.
We learn how to pray authentically to God.

Whether we find ourselves joyful, depressed, contrite, lost or somewhere in between, it is time to voice our prayers to our God who is vigilant to hear.

Part 1 - “Wisdom” What does it mean to be “on the way” with God?

Part 2 – “Darkness” What does God do when I lose hope?

Part 3 – “Creation” What can I learn from God’s creative work?

Part 4 – “Guidance” What can I count on from God for guidance?

Part 5 – “Have Mercy…” What can God do to free me?

Part 6 – “Testimony!” What can I do to tell God’s great story?
